Songs of Encouragement

As the years roll by and we say “Good Bye” to cherished friends and family, we can gaze across the years that have passed and treasure the memories that last. When we listen to songs we learned when we were young, they can take on new meaning, for our perspectives change as we grow older. I pray that these songs will kindle fresh faith for those who are doing well in life, as well as those who are weary, lonely, or sad. “May the God of hope fill us with joy and peace as we trust in Him. May we abound in all joy and hope by the power of the Spirit of God in us.” Romans 15:13, paraphrase

As I was about to post this on my website, we learned that Linda’s favorite cousin died today at age 80. She and Linda were like sisters. Losing loved ones is one of the challenges we face in our senior years. Knowing our eternal destiny is important. As Isaac Watts wrote, “Be Thou our guide while life shall last, and our eternal home.” (St. 3 from “O God, Our Help in Ages Past}
