This beautiful Christmas carol evokes a sense of awe and adoration. One can only image the sense of wonder, perhaps even fright, as shepherds saw the star and heard the angelic choir singing, “Glory to God in the highest.” It’s wonderful when a poet expresses his or her worship, providing words like this to facilitate our worship responses: “Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!”
