A Child’s Thank You – Tutorial Two

When arranging music based on poetry, it’s appropriate to do what’s called “word painting.” Some lines of verse call for special effects, like “The birds their carols raise” and “Thank you, Lord, for colored leaves, gently falling from the trees.” The pianist who is sensitive to the meaning of words can bring them to life. A point of emphasis in this tutorial is the value of using correct fingerings.
