Hearing What You See – Key of F

An integral part of “Learning to Here What You See” is a process I call “Seeing What You Know.” A musician who plays by ear has a physical grasp of melodic and rhythmic patterns. He likely also has a kinesthetic sense of chord inversions and harmonic progressions. With the guidance of an instructor, the student could learn to link what he knows first-hand with the notes on the page. I had a student who was delighted to discover that what she plays can be notated.
