Charles Gounod, a 19th C. French composer, selected Bach’s “Prelude in C” and added his own melody for “Ave Maria.” Many years later I was inspired to compose a prayer to be sung to the tune of “Ave Maria.” Linda, my wife, composed a new accompaniment that is not-at-all like Bach’s prelude. The result is a musical offering that spans several centuries. I’m wondering how Bach and Gounod would respond if they heard this fusion of their music.
Amen!
So beautiful…I love the words and that melody has always been one of my favorites!
What a beautiful prayer.
Personally, I like this better. I like it because it points to our Lord and leads us to worship Him rather than Mary.
