Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated

Itemization is the making of a list, and this is a literary device used by some writers.  “Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated” is a classic example. To facilitate memorization of this poem I’ve selected two different melodies and included several key changes.  The apostle Paul uses this device for “The Fruit of the Spirit” (Galations 5:22-23) and for his exhortations in Philippians 4:8-9. 

Frances Havergal (1836-1879), the author . offers a challenge to consider what total commitment involves.. The recording of this
with the Christmas as background doesn’t make this a Christmas hymn, but I’m reminded that total commitment is year long.
